Acne Treatment

A staged plan for active breakouts: calming inflammation, clearing congestion and protecting the barrier first, then addressing the marks left behind.

Recovery
Mild redness or dryness for 1 – 2 days
Sessions
A staged course, reviewed at every visit

Overview

Active acne is treated in an order that matters. Inflammation is settled and congestion cleared before anything resurfacing is considered, because treating an inflamed, compromised barrier too aggressively tends to prolong the problem rather than shorten it.

Home care carries as much of the result as the in-clinic work, so the routine is written down and reviewed as the skin changes. Marks and texture left behind are addressed once the skin is settled, as a separate phase. Suitability and expected results vary between individuals; a consultation always comes first.

Who it may suit

  • Active acne and inflamed breakouts
  • Congestion, blackheads and persistent bumpy texture
  • Post-inflammatory marks left after breakouts have cleared

Considerations

  • Severe, cystic or scarring acne should be assessed by a doctor; Sarah will say so and refer
  • Recent or current isotretinoin use changes what is safe and must be declared
  • Results are staged over months; flare-ups during the settling phase are normal and planned for

What to expect

  1. 01

A close assessment of the skin and a conversation about routine, medication and triggers

  2. 02

A gentle cleanse, then extraction or a treatment step chosen for how the skin is presenting that day

  3. 03

Calming, barrier-supporting products applied to finish

  4. 04

A written home routine, adjusted at each visit

Preparation

  • Pause exfoliating acids and retinoids for a few days beforehand unless told otherwise
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup
  • Bring a list of everything you currently use on your skin, including medication
  • Keep the routine simple and consistent; changing several products at once makes the cause of a flare impossible to read
  • No picking or squeezing between visits
  • Daily broad-spectrum sun protection, which is what limits the marks
  • Expect the plan to be adjusted rather than repeated identically

Timeline

Inflammation usually settles first, over several weeks. Marks fade over months with consistent protection, and texture is assessed last.

Documented results

  • Before and after comparison of a client's cheeks: inflamed acne before treatment, and settled, clearer skin afterwards

    2. After

Active, inflamed acne across both cheeks, photographed before the programme began and again once the skin had settled.
