Laser Hair Removal
Light energy is directed at the hair follicle to reduce regrowth over a planned course of sessions, with settings matched to your skin tone and hair type.

- Duration
- 15 – 60 minutes depending on the area
- Recovery
- Warmth or mild pinkness for a few hours; daily sun protection is essential
- Sessions
- A course of sessions spaced by area, with maintenance reviewed afterwards
Overview
Laser hair removal works by delivering light energy that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted to heat at the follicle. Because only hairs in their active growth phase respond, and not every follicle is in that phase at once, the treatment is always planned as a course rather than a single visit.
Settings are matched to your skin tone and hair colour, and a patch test comes before the first full session. Fine, fair or grey hair responds far less predictably than dark hair, and that is discussed honestly before anything is booked. Suitability and expected results vary between individuals; a consultation always comes first.
Who it may suit
- Unwanted facial or body hair, where the hair is dark enough to absorb the light
- People able to commit to a spaced course rather than a single session
- Areas prone to ingrown hairs or irritation from shaving and waxing
Considerations
- A patch test is required before the first full session
- Not performed over active infection, broken skin or recent sunburn
- Fair, red, grey or very fine hair responds poorly and may not be suitable
- Photosensitising medication, recent sun exposure and self-tan all need to be declared
What to expect
- 01
The area is shaved and cleaned, and protective eyewear is worn throughout
- 02
The handpiece is moved across the area in overlapping passes
- 03
A warm snapping sensation with each pulse, and cooling between passes
- 04
A soothing gel afterwards; the area may look pink with slight bumps around the follicles
Preparation
- Shave the area 12 – 24 hours before; do not wax, thread or epilate for four weeks beforehand
- No sun exposure, sunbeds or self-tan for two weeks before
- Arrive with clean skin, free of deodorant, makeup and lotion on the area
Aftercare
All aftercare guidance- Expect pinkness and follicle bumps for a few hours to a day
- Avoid heat, saunas, swimming and vigorous exercise for 24 – 48 hours
- No waxing or plucking between sessions; shaving is fine
- Daily broad-spectrum sun protection on any exposed treated area
Timeline
Treated hairs shed over one to three weeks after each session. Reduction is cumulative across the course, with sessions spaced by area to match the growth cycle.
